You can submit your LPG, BESCOM and Ration card information consumer data document scans through the web. On a successful submission, you will get an acknowledgment slip that looks like this. (The sample below is for a consumer who does not have a ration card and entered 'NIL' in that section of the form).

A very useful guide. People like me, without government-subsidised LPG are spared this exercise, but at a price - the 12kg cylinder from a private gas supplier cost me Rs 850/- yesterday.

At last, before 4 days for the dead line, the Food supply Dept had woken up to issue clear cut and workable website for lakhs of gas legitimate users. Still I do not see any urgency for having a dead line to such a massive work. The gas users are still in trouble because the Distributors are delaying the supply of gas to households stating the pressure of work in collating the data given by the consumers. I wonder how the Dept. is going to fight against the mafia widely and wildly prevalent all over the State who divert the gas cylinders for illegal and unregistered use such as in the autos, cars, trailers, small eateries, small industries ,blackmarketing etc etc.

Very useful, thanks for the post! Choosing between private gas like Jyothi gas and govt. subsidized ones like Indane is like choosing between the lesser of two evils. I got an indane connection in 2004 fairly easily (didn't require a ration card back then) but after that every time I changed houses, getting address changed or the connection transferred to the new agency was a pain, as was waiting for delivery if you didn't have a backup cylinder. Then came another blow - they decided to suspend my connection once when I hadn't ordered a new cylinder for 7 months (As I was living alone, my consumption was pretty low). Now for every such situation you have to make a trip to their admin office in Unity building, nr Corporation circle, stand in long queues and then plead them for permission to reactivate the connection. Pretty difficult for a working person to take off given they are open only Mon-Fri :-( Soon after this I gave up and since my consumption was low anyway, decided to take a private connection with Jyothi. At that time, an Indane cylinder would cost ~Rs. 270 and Jyothi around Rs. 500 - not too bad if you got a cylinder only twice a year. I continued with Jyothi for a few years, very happy with their efficient service and not minding the premium I had to pay for it. Then family changes happened - I got married, parents and guests started to visit and had a baby, so the gas consumption shot up quite a bit, to one cylinder every 1-2 months. By this time, Jyothi also decided to play the devil and for 3 cylinders ordered in the months of Nov 2010, Dec 2010 and Jan 2011, the price charged was Rs. 660, 720 and 790 respectively. From Arathi's comment above I see that it has further gone up to 850 in the month of Feb. The reason quoted? Apparently gas prices are higher in winter. Compare this with the current price of 320-350 for an Indane cylinder. Made me more willing to make multiple tiring rounds to Indane's corporation office again.

Why the Govt not taking own interest through BBMP to get all detail from all the houses having LPG/Ration Card/Election Id etc. Why time to time asking LPG & RR Nos etc.Consumers are fedup with this types of carelessness of Food & Civil Supplies.Plz take care without harassing the consumer of LPG.

Hi All,

Have they started issuing the ration cards now in Bangalore? Because from the month of Jan 2011, they said they have stopped issuing ration cards in Bangalore, due to verfication and elimination of fake cards were in process. Is that still going on or the people in Civil and Food supplies have resumed with issuing of ration cards?

If anyone who have recently enquired about this or have visited their respective office to get their concerns addressed, please do let me know of the present status.

Thanks in advance,
Soumya
