Electronic City to have its own 'oota from thota'

The third edition of 'Oota from your Thota' will happen in Electronic City on January 8th. Be there to attend terrace gardening and waste management workshops, mela for gardening materials and more.

The third edition of the organic gardening event, Oota from your Thota (OfyT) will be held on Sunday, January 8th at Electronic City. The event is to support aspiring gardeners grow gardens in their homes. An introductory workshop on organic terrace gardening will be held, along with a special session on waste management and composting practices.

A mela is also planned for sale of plants, seeds, garden tools, compost, organic food, ecofriendly cloth bags etc, along with an open forum for discussions.

The event is supported by NGO Garden City Farmers Trust (GCFT) and Apna Complex. Citizen Matters is media partner for the event.

S Laxminarayan of GCFT says, "The idea is to emphasise growing your own food. We need to reach out to everyone, hence holding the event in different parts of the city."

Raja Sekhar Kommu, Founder of Apna Complex, an apartment management software firm, says that the event would also create a common platform for residents in Electronic City area to interact. "Members from around 25 residential societies have registered, some from as far as Yelahanka," he says.

11 am - 2 pm: Open House and stalls for gardening products
