SUNDAY JAMS

Thank you for the music..and goodbye?

Music lovers of Bangalore may miss their monthly dose of original music in earnest, unless the Sunday Jammers get back their 'Music Strip' in Cubbon park and are allowed to tune in again, uninterrupted.

By Hari Shenoy

Upcoming musicians of Bangalore have had a platform to showcase their original compositions at dos called as Sunday Jams, the first Sunday of every month. These were earlier staged in Cubbon Park and later at various venues across the city under sponsorship. The informal but popular movement now faces threat of closure with the sponsor pulling out. Jammers have petitioned the Governor for their original ‘music strip’ at Cubbon Park, in order to keep the movement alive.

The picture of the broken strings on Karthik's guitar seems to symbolize the difficulties faced by the Sunday Jam movement..let's hope our administration uses some imagination and keep this bit of Bangalore culture, instead of their usual "you-can't-do-it" approach!
