Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava celebrates 50 years of Indian culture Shri Vidyaranya Yuvaka Sangha invites you to be a part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations from August 19 – September 29, 2012. Eminent artistes from across the country will perform this year, adding to the grandeur and splendour of the Utsava A host of events have been planned to commemorate this landmark year which will witness a huge turnout of over a million people! 1. Ranga Rang – a rangoli competition involving 1,000 participants. The final 100 artistes will create colourful rangolis on Bengaluru’s prime area – Commercial Street 2. Sand Art Utsava – showcasing a 30 feet high sand Ganesha from September 18 – 28, 2012 at Mallikarjuna Temple, Basavangudi 3. Biggest Ladoo – showcasing a 6,000 kg ‘laddoo’ from September 19 – 23, 2012 4. Deepotsava – 50,000 lamps will be lit every day in the evening from September 19 – 28, 2012 5. Inaugural day – 500 dancers from over 15 dance schools will perform five Indian classical dance forms – all the way from DVG Road to the venue on September 19, 2012 6. Main performances – high decibel performances by renowned personalities likeIllayaraja, Shankar Mahadevan & Shahrukh Khan, amongst others (11 day schedule attached) 7. Aromas of Karnataka – Traditional food from all over Karnataka will be present from September 19 – 28, 2012. Over 100 unique dishes will represent 6 districts of Karnataka 8. Visarjan – Elaborate procession of Lord Ganesha with various folk dances followed by Visarjan
