We are seeking enthusiastic, committed team members/freelancers with rapid learning curve and interest in community affairs.

Positions open (BANGALORE BASED)

JOURNALISM:

1. NEIGHBOURHOOD REPORTER

We are looking for a freelance writer/stringer who can cover local events in South Bangalore, from HSR Layout, BTM, JP Nagar, Jayanagar, Koramangala etc.

Expectation:
- Clean English, good interpersonal and communication skills
- Should be based in the area and know the neighbourhood well.
- Available to attend events any day of the week, with some flexibility.

The job will involve:
- attending and reporting on civic issues and local community cultural, sports and civic events
- writing features on local personalities or organisations
- shoot pictures to go along with the article
- should also talk to people to get quotes on various topics
- submit 2-3 stories, of about 200-600 words each week.

Compensation will be commensurate with output.

2. FREELANCE WRITER/COLUMNISTS
Citizen Matters is looking for Bangalore based columnists on the following topics.
- movie review cum roundup
- plays review cum roundup
- music, dance & other performances
- local business.
- urban design and architecture
- local/city politics. The ideal candidate is well informed about local government affairs, decision making, and a keen follower of people, positions and local activities of political parties.

Columns will be at a fortnightly frequency. Experienced writers preferred. Payments will be at the standard Citizen Matters freelance rate.

Note: we do not accept authors using pseudonyms.

4. OTHER FREELANCE OPPORTUNITIES

We are always open to features writers, knowledgeable about topics like arts and culture, music, sports or heritage and up to date on happenings in the city.

We also welcome creative talent, including illustrators and cartoonists -- for general assignments or special focus on a topic.

Candidates must be:

• Are curious and articulate
• Have interest in community affairs
• For indepth reports, possess talent for investigative and analytical stories in simple and lucid language
